Food loss & waste is a global issue.
Globally, roughly 33% (by weight) of the edible parts of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted, which is around 1.3 billion tonnes of Food Loss and Waste per year.
Only in the EU, we generate every year around 89 million tonnes of Food Loss and Waste, accounting for 20% of the total food produced, with costs estimated at € 143 billion, impacting each stage of the Food Value Chain.
