This database compiles every food loss and waste initiative conducted at either the EU-level or the state-level from 2016–2026. Initiatives are divided into programme types, such as Horizon 2020, Eurostars, LIFE, state-level, etc. Within each type the initiatives are listed by: name, scope/country targeted, funding source, timeframe, food waste hierarchy level targeted, target group(s) of the initiative, expected result type, and result link (if available).

A legend is included on the landing page with all available categories for the ‘food waste hierarchy level targeted’, ‘target group(s) of the initiative’, and ‘expected result type’ variables (e.g., expected result types may include awareness-raising, partnership-building, and/or research, among others).
