Delivering Freshness, Cutting Waste
Empower the logistics sector with SISTERS’ smart solutions to deliver fresher food, reduce spoilage, and lead the way toward a zero-waste future
Did you know that a significant part of food waste occurs during transport and distribution?
This Food Waste Action Week, SISTERS is putting together the #ZeroWasteLogistics campaign with the aim to highlight the crucial role of a sustainable logistics sector in reducing food waste.
Do you know what #FoodWaste means?
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations defines “food waste” as the discard of edible foods at the retail and consumer levels, distinguishing it from “food loss” which is the reduction in edible food mass at the production, post-harvest, and processing stages of the food value chain. Food waste and loss is a critical worldwide problem, since globally around 1 billion tonnes of food are discarded every year. This translates into serious negative impacts on the sustainability of the worldwide food system, with severe social, environmental, and economic impacts.
Zero Food Waste Action Week 2025 x #ZeroWasteLogistics
In the framework of Food Waste Action Week taking place from March 17-21, 2025, the SISTERS project is launching the #ZeroWasteLogistics campaign, aiming to tackle one of the most critical yet often overlooked stages of the food supply chain: transport and distribution. Through innovative solutions like BulkBox and StoreBox, SISTERS is working to reduce food loss during transportation and ensure that products reach consumers in optimal condition, minimizing waste and maximizing sustainability. Join us in raising awareness and taking action for a more efficient and responsible food system!
